Cooling Down in DC

Cooling Down in DC

The weekend was filled with rain and cooler temperatures.  Bittersweet, in some ways, since I love summer, but I wasn't sad to see the temperatures fall below 90 degrees.  Summer in DC is a different animal than summer in Portland.  I'm readjusting to east coast weather.  For example, here's what the weather looked like this morning:

Yikes...

So instead of outdoor activities, we did a lot of inside stuff.  We put together our bed and end tables, ran errands, and made our place look more like home.  The cat approves:

immediate approval.

Finally, today we visited the African American History Museum.  It was moving and a reminder of why education is so important.  We need to know the history of our country--all of it. I loved the design of the museum.  Starting underground and rising to the surface was a pivotal part of the whole experience.  The reflection room was a welcome way to reconnect to the world after the emotional journey through the history section. We didn't get to any of the above-ground floors, but I hope to return soon.

The reflection space.
